River stingray – Carved wood piece

The Tikuna indigenous people in the Amazon rainforest make decor handicrafts by recycling palo sangre wood, a remarkably fine species of wood with a natural reddish finish. Native rainforest animals are often represented in wonderful wood carving handicrafts, native critters like the river stingrays, also called “raya”, a freshwater fish found in Amazon lakes and small rivers. Dimensions: 15 cm length.
